President’s View

It is that time of year where spring is about to appear. New Year’s Resolutions are being evaluated. Trip planning is taking priority. All of us in this motorhome arena have a lot to thank the creator for. For we are very fortunate. Remember to whom much is given, much is required. Please continue your winning ways

Rules of the Road

As the motorhome industry continues to grow, there are many people deciding to tow vehicles behind them. The towed vehicle easily becomes “dead weight” and will push as you try to slow or stop. In many cases, the towed vehicle can put so much stress on the motor coach’s brakes that they may fade or completely fail. A towed vehicle also will greatly increase the distance it takes you to stop. By applying brakes on your towed vehicle will take the entire weight of towed vehicle off the motor coach’s overburdened brakes. With towing laws now enforced throughout the U.S. and Canada, don’t get caught without some type of braking system.

MAGIC CITY CLASSIC IN B’HAM

The 2002 Magic Classic had some magic in it. It seems as if the number of motorhomes came from out of nowhere. Obviously, tailgating is becoming a big to do there. In four short years I have seen a dramatic increase in the number of coaches in attendance. The 1st year we were involved, it was as if there were 10-15 coaches, now some 4 years later I am sure we had over 125 coaches. We even had a dealer to showcase 3 of his units. With over 65,000 fans in the stadium and another 30,000 outside tailgating, it just stands to reason that the dollars spent and the economic impact is being felt. Mind you, this is a black affair.
